Laughter Exercises

You may have heard the classic adage “laughter is the best medicine many times before, and you will likely hear it many times more. Laughing is something that generally makes the one laughing feel really wonderful and has actually been shown to have health benefits far beyond a momentary burst of happiness. Laughter is actually quite beneficial and its benefits are truly no laughing matter.

So what are some ways you can get laughing whenever you want without anyone else being the unhappy target of a joke? Laughing exercises are a healthy trend that is gaining in popularity and you too enjoy some fun and healthy laughter. Here is your chance to play like a child to the fullest and with a good reason to do so.

Group Laughter

Get together with friends or family and just start laughing. The ridiculousness of the activity is the main proponent for the actual laughter that will inevitably arrive. You may be surprised but you will eventually be laughing for real.

Animal Sounds

Either alone or in a group of friends or family, begin making animal sounds. Continue until the laughter is uncontrollable and you are literally in tears from how hilarious it all is. One of you may even ask for a time-out just to relax from laughter for a moment.

Funny Faces

Sit in front of a mirror or, once again, in a group of family or friends and simply make funny faces at each other. Feel free to use your hands to stretch your mouth wide and stick out your tongue.

Silly Dance

Here’s a chance to not only get some good laughs in, but also some really good exercise. Remember not to make fun of anyone else while doing this. That is uncreative. Instead just come up with silly dances to your favorite songs! This should really get you and your friends or family rolling in laughter!

Nonsense Speech

Here the goal is to have a conversation or monologue that is completely meaningless. You are not allowed to use any actual words in any languages you know. It is all supposed to just be gibberish. You will probably be pretty surprised by just how much you will be able to say while not saying anything at all. Hopefully at some point the absurdity will overwhelm you into hysterical laughter.

Nonsense Sound

Make some wacky sounds that are totally out of this world or simulating those in it. Space sounds, machine sounds, robot sounds or other really exaggerated sounds. This one may take a little more creativity to get you and your group going but it is still potentially a great source of fun.

That should be more than plenty to get you started feeling the benefits of healthy laughter. If something in that list doesn’t get you laughing, then you are either not trying or need a new group to practice laughing with. Have fun because the benefit is all up to how much fun you are willing to have!
