Finding Love In The Things You Do When Diagnosed With Depression

Depression can bring out a very sad side of yourself, leaving you lonely, down, and finding little joy in anything that you once loved. It can seem a challenge to get up in the morning, go to work, be around others, and even more difficult to find ways to pass the time instead of sitting and feeling down.
Hobbies are a wonderful getaway for the mind, they can put you at ease, relax your body, and place in a state of happiness. This is defiantly where you want to be, especially when handling depression. Many people undergo a strong urge to do absolutely nothing, but if you can over turn that feeling and stand above it to do something you love, it can strengthen you and bring you into the sun, even when all you feel is dark.
The best way to go about doing so is to gradually get yourself into the habit of when you feel down or like doing nothing, and have nothing better to do (obviously), think of something you love, or even used to love until depression. When you no longer find joy in what ever it happens to be you are wanting to do whether it be writing, reading, going on a walk, playing a game, going out to eat, etc…
You can’t just do it for a long or extended period of time you can’t simply snap out of it. Much like depression it’s self, you can’t expect it to just go away and suddenly feel amazing again, there is a little more to it.
Working things a day at a time and one thing at a time is crucial, you need to be careful in overloading yourself in too much. Even without depression it can be surprisingly easy to overload yourself with things and find yourself burnt out. Add depression to the equation, and not only will you easily be burned out but you will loose the drive to try at all, so caution is a very wise way to approach any goal. Starting slow, keeping steady, and knowing your own limits with out over shooting can bring you a long way.

One day and one goal at a time, you will find yourself slowly finding joy in the things you may have once not been able to live without doing. You have the power to overcome anything, and believing in yourself will take you through the long haul to success.
